Abstract
Textiles are an important art form in the Andes, and they carry a lot of importance for ancestral belief and identity for Andean peoples (McHugh 2020). Within this context of religious and social importance, the modern production of textiles will be examined in relation to the rise of outside influence, such as tourism and globalization, and how it has influenced this folk practice. How can this change be seen in the production of textiles? How influential is the folk group themselves at changing this tradition? I hope to expand on how these various factors have influenced the evolution of this craft.
